by the sea
Soft white
sheer curtains
floating on the breeze
covered veranda
wooden balustrade
sand dunes
and tussock grass
a hanging chair
swinging
I can almost smell
the sweet sea air
of Cape Cod
This painting
wants you
to design
your house
your life
around it
Is it wood
or is it canvas
an alley in Spain
or painted brick wall
in Greece
one can only tell
in person
When you imbibe
it's vibe
it whispers
sweet images
of meandering peace
it's sweetness
a mojito
sangria
or perhaps
a cup of tea
deep breath
exhale
you're next
unwind
it matters not
where you are
you're right here
by the sea
back in Spain
.
.
I loved the simplicity and natural unfurling of this style of painting so much that three more pieces poured out, taking me on a journey through what feels and looks like the recycled wood and natural textures of those easy living, rustically beautiful dwellings you find in so many different places throughout Europe.
And I started to feel the relaxed vibe of those European streets, their cobblestoned alleyways, with the painted brick walls, that I would aimlessly follow on those wonderfully wasteful, younger years of roaming, and somehow I found myself... Back in Spain.
